This course explores the fundamental concepts and practices of entrepreneurship from an Islamic perspective, emphasizing values, ethics, and principles derived from the Qur’an and Sunnah. It highlights how Islamic teachings guide entrepreneurial behavior, innovation, and wealth creation in a socially responsible and just manner. Students will examine various Islamic business models, including those related to the halal industry, as well as the role of zakat, waqf, and risk-sharing mechanisms in promoting equitable economic development. By the end of the course, students are expected to explain the principles of Islamic entrepreneurship, apply ethical and Shariah-compliant approaches in decision-making, analyze contemporary challenges in Islamic business, and develop innovative entrepreneurial solutions that align with Islamic values.

This course associates the use of design thinking as a human-centred process in exploiting opportunities. By identifying the core areas of a business model and the importance of the customer value proposition, students will evaluate potential opportunities. The opportunities evaluation will be framed within the business model canvas. An insight in this sense helps students position their roles within the go-to-market and pitching strategy. Students will be able to deliver the right product concept for the right place, at the right price and at the right time.
